Pulsepoint Respond

Empower
Everyday
Citizens

“Sudden Cardiac Arrest is not just a job for emergency responders but rather a community-based issue that requires a community-based response.” – International Association of Fire Chiefs “In no other medical situation is there such a vital reliance on the community.”

You know the difference early CPR and defibrillation can make in a Sudden Cardiac Arrest event. Fifty-seven percent of U.S. adults say they’ve had CPR training, and most would be willing to use CPR or an AED to help save a stranger’s life. Yet only 11% say they’ve used CPR in an actual emergency—that’s a number we can increase together.

When that life-threatening call comes in emergency responders will be ready. But what if someone was already at the scene, applying lifesaving CPR and defibrillation until they arrive? With PulsePoint, the dispatch center immediately alerts CPR-trained individuals about nearby cardiac arrest events through the free PulsePoint Respond mobile app, and also lets them know the location of the closest AEDs.

Initiate AED Response

The National Emergency AED Registry (NEAR) seeks to improve cardiac arrest outcomes by equipping emergency telecommunicators with AED locations and automatically notifying those with access to an AED of the nearby need for a defibrillator. The NEAR registry is hosted and administered by the PulsePoint Foundation.

The foundation assists public safety agencies build, manage and mobilize the AED registry by providing administrative registry access and training, developing registry tools and apps such as PulsePoint AED, and designing CPR and AED community outreach campaigns and collateral—all at no cost. The Foundation also provides a suite of registry supporting APIs for industry partners such as emergency call handling and medical guidance application vendors.

The PulsePoint Foundation, a US-based public 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a focused mission to improve cardiac arrest survival in partnership with public safety agencies, advocates for emergency call centers to provide callers with AED locations during cardiac arrest call processing (T-AED). This is similar in concept to providing Telecommunicator CPR instruction (T-CPR).
